A Wheely Curious Spring Family Day

What is the event?

A family day of forest school, farm fun and crafts, specifically designed for children with special educational needs and disabilities, physically disabled children, their siblings, parents and carers, set at Applefield, a beautiful, intimate and private smallholding in Sidlesham, near Selsey.

Your morning will consist of a relaxed stroll to meet and greet the various animals that live at Applefield. There are goats to pat, check the chicken coop for freshly laid eggs and meet Rosemary the very friendly donkey, who lives with her pony friends, she does love a carrot or two! You may even see "Frankie" the very friendly farm cat as we venture around the farm.

We will spend some time making sensory and natural Spring craft items to take home. Time spent in the wooded area, hunting for bugs, exploring, relaxing in the hammock or playing on the swing. Around the fire circle there will be an opportunity to learn fire lighting skills using a flint and steel for those who wish to try and we will have a camp fire to enjoy our toasted marshmallows with our tea or coffee and have some well earned relaxing time before a leisurely lunch break to enjoy your picnic chilling on the field or in the greenhouse before an afternoon of Lizzie's Craft Club. Lizzie's Craft Club will be held in the greenhouse or weather permitting, on the field. You will enjoy a relaxing afternoon creating a colourful Spring flower decoration to hang up at home and a farm themed keyring to remember the Applefield animals. A drink and biscuit will also be provided during Craft Club.

Price: £8.00 per child (plus a small eventbrite booking fee), (siblings under 2 come free) Parents/carers do not pay for a ticket. Places are partially funded by Wellspring West Sussex, reducing the overall cost of the day of activities at Applefield.
