Computer Games - Addiction or Aid? Coastal West Sussex MIND

What is the event?

This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.

This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, YMCA Downslink and West Sussex County Council.

Course Overview This half day workshop explores the use of computer gaming in therapeutic work. Whilst gaming is often seen negatively it can be a very real positive in our clients' lives.

We will explore:

the different types of games, gamer personalities, culture and technology how and why gaming can become important to someone how to work alongside gaming what can happen if gaming becomes a problem. The workshop will involve group work, activities, case studies, therapeutic interventions and discussion.

Getting to the Venue By Car Follow the brown signs to the Regis Centre. We are between Belmont Street and the Esplanade, There is a large car park next door. The parking charges are £3.20 for 4 hours and £7 for all day. You may find some free off-street parking in the roads nearby, within a 10 minute walk.

By Bus Take a bus to Bognor Regis High Street. Walk east towards the main shopping parade (London Road) and turn right through the arcade. We are located at the end of the arcade (5 minutes walk).

By Train Take a train to Bognor Regis station. Leave the station by the main exit through the booking hall. Turn left to the main shopping precinct (London Road). Cross into the arcade. We are located at the end (5 minutes walk).

Timings The course runs from 10am - 1pm.

Refreshments Tea and coffee will be provided during the mid-morning break.

Registration fee Your £15 registration fee is non-refundable.

Cancellations Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend this course as this course is heavily subsidised as it is a funded programme. Our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up.
