Computer Games - Addiction or Aid? Coastal West Sussex MIND

What is the event?

This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.

This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, YMCA Downslink and West Sussex County Council.

Course Overview This half day workshop explores the use of computer gaming in therapeutic work. Whilst gaming is often seen negatively it can be a very real positive in our clients' lives.

We will explore:

the different types of games, gamer personalities, culture and technology how and why gaming can become important to someone how to work alongside gaming what can happen if gaming becomes a problem. The workshop will involve group work, activities, case studies, therapeutic interventions and discussion.

Getting to the Venue The closest station to the venue is Crawley station which is a 5 minute walk from the library. The local buses all stop at the bus station, a 5 minute walk from the library. Next to Crawley Library is a short stay four 4 pay and display car park. This is on Haslett Avenue. There are other pay and display car parks nearby (including the County Mall shopping centre just opposite or the council car park for £2.50 all day parking) or you may be able to find some off-road free parking around a 10-15 minute walk away.

Timings The course runs from 09.30am - 12.30pm.

Refreshments Tea and coffee will be provided during the mid-morning break.

Registration fee Your £15 registration fee is non-refundable.

Cancellations Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend this course as this course is heavily subsidised as it is a funded programme. Our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up.
