Understanding the Importance of Visual Resources - Coastal West Sussex MIND and COMPASS

What is the event?

This is a free half day course for parents and carers in West Sussex.

Course Overview Many children on the Autism Spectrum (and other related conditions) take in information more effectively from visual prompts that aural ones. Being able to make and adapt your own visual aids is an invaluable skill to have. This is a hands-on, practical course where you will make your own examples of Social Stories/ Comic Strip Conversations and Visual Time-tables. Please bring a memory stick to take your work away with you and a laptop or tablet with ‘Word’ on it if you are able to. (Some will be available to share on the day).

Getting to the Venue Parking is available at the venue although before 9:15am it may be more difficult due to school mini buses. There is some street parking. Horsham is the nearest station and it is a 15/20 minute walk.

Timings and breaks Teas/coffees will be provided during the mid-morning break.

It is essential that you arrive on time and complete the course. If this is not possible please inform us by email before proceeding to book at [email protected]

Refreshments Tea and coffee will be provided during the mid-morning break. We will try and provide a caffeine free option but this cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellations Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend this course.

This course is heavily subsidised as it is a funded programme. Our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Please inform us if you are unable to take up your space as we can offer this to someone on our waiting list.
