Beacon House - Family Friendly Screenings

What is the event?

At Beacon House we know that taking some children to the cinema can be a stressful experience for everyone, leading to it never being repeated again! We have also learnt from parents & carers that not being able to do ‘normal’ things can leave them feeling alienated and excluded.

We would like to invite all parents, carers, grandparents, and childminders of children who struggle to sit still in a cinema to join one of our Family Friendly Cinemas!

Natural light, adaptable and cosy seating, sensitive sound levels and low ticket numbers means we can offer a calm and pleasurable family cinema experience. With a break out room available for sensory or quiet breaks, we offer an opportunity for families to spend time together in a relaxed and judgement free environment.

The screenings are facilitated by a member of the Beacon House Team who is also an adoptive parent and brings with her lots of empathy and understanding!

Children must be accompanied by an adult and remain the responsibility of their adult for the duration of the screening. Refreshments are included in the ticket price. Licensing laws mean we are unable to advertise the film title, please email [email protected] to find out which films are being screened.

About the trainer

Helen Townsend is an artist and works at Beacon House as a Therapeutic Life Story Worker, Peer Supporter and Media and Resources Coordinator. She is an adoptive parent and understands the pressures in parenting children with trauma. Helen is passionate about providing families an opportunity to share time together in a calm, judgement free environment.
