Expert Parent workshop - boosting your confidence working with (health) professionals
What is the event?
This welcoming workshop is for parents and carers whose children or young people have a disability or long-term health condition (things such as autism, ADHD, speech and language need or diabetes). This workshop is for parents, carers and their allies ONLY and is packed with learning and information delivered in a fun and interactive way. This workshop focuses on helping you work better with health services (doctor, health visitor, school nurse, CAMHS, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists etc) but skills learnt can be used in all areas supporting your child.

We will provide refreshments (water, teas, coffee) on arrival and then at break times throughout the day as well as a light lunch (sandwiches and fruit) at midday. Please remember to tell us of any dietary or access requirements so that we can make you feel at ease and able to enjoy your precious time with us and make the most of this opportunity.

The Expert Parent workshop is part of a national programme helping parents and carers work with health professionals around their child. Expert Parent Programme was written by professionals and parent carers, developed using funding from Department for Health, and is supported and endorsed by Council for Disabled Children. Workshops are delivered by parents for parents.
