Youth Mental Health First Aid - VIRTUAL LEARNING EVENT


What is the event?

This course will be a blend of self-learning actives and live interactive sessions with the trainer and other course participants. The total learning time is approximately 15 hours.

What is Youth MHFA?

Youth MHFA offers an internationally recognised course designed especially for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 to 18 years. 

Participants learn how to provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young persons mental and emotional well-being and to support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

What will I learn on a Youth MHFA course?

The aims of Youth MHFA are to enable participants to: Gain a more in-depth understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experience

How will I learn? The Youth MHFA consists of four x 2.5 hour live session delivered via Zoom 11th November 2020- 09:30 - 12:00 12th November 2020 - 09:30 - 12:00 18th November 2020 - 09:30 - 12:00 19th November 2020 - 09:30 - 12:00 You will need to attend all four sessions to complete the course.

Before the course you will receive a course workbook and a Mental Health First Aid England manual from Mental Health First Aid England. It is important that you self-register for the course on the Mental Health First Aid England training portal at least 2 weeks before the start of the course to ensure the materials can be posted to you in time.
