What is the event?

This course is part of the Autism Professionals Programme funded by NHS Health Education England (HEE) covering Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Please note this course is not suitable for parents, carers or families.

Eligibility

This course is free to people working in the field of autism and autism and learning difficulties in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Please note this course is not suitable for parents, carers or families. Please do not book a place on this course if you are not a professional working with children and young people in Kent, Surrey or Sussex. You will asked to provide the name of the organisation you work for during the registration process.

About the course

Communication is a common difficulty associated with autism, which can impact individuals in a number of ways. Research shows that communication can be a key factor in high levels of anxiety and behaviour that challenges.

This session is for professionals who support children and young people with autism. In this session you will learn why communication is important when supporting, the different ways that individuals with autism can be impacted by their communication difficulties, how you can amend your communication in order to help and some useful tools and strategies to aid the individual with communicating their wishes and needs.

Feedback

Funding for this course is provided by Health Education England (HEE) covering Kent, Surrey and Sussex. It is a requirement that we provide feedback from this event to HEE and therefore you will be asked, either during the session or via a follow-up email, to complete a short feedback form. Please kindly note completion of the feedback form is compulsory if you wish to attend this free event and you will be asked to confirm during the registration process that you will complete the feedback form when requested.
