What is the event?
Eligibility
This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.
This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, YMCA Downslink Group, West Sussex County Council and West Sussex CCGs.
Down But Not Out (Anxiety & Depression in Young People)
75% of adult mental health issues begin to develop before a young person reaches 18 years old.
Anxiety and depression/low mood, often co-existing, are the most prevalent and pervasive mental health issues for children & young people living in our communities. Why is that?
This workshop will clarify what is happening for young people living with anxiety and depression and how you can respond helpfully
We will raise your self awareness of the issues and look at the stigma often surrounding the issues
It will be a forum for discussion of individual experiences and shared strategies that we can use when living and working with young people
We will discuss risk and resilience factors and identify useful resources and websites
Getting to the Venue
The closest station to the venue is Crawley station which is a 5 minute walk from the library. The local buses all stop at the bus station, a 5 minute walk from the library. Next to Crawley Library is a short stay four hour pay and display car park. This is on Haslett Avenue. There are other pay and display car parks nearby (including the County Mall shopping centre just opposite) or you may be able to find some off-road free parking around a 10-15 minute walk away.
Timings
The course runs from 1.30pm - 4.30pm

Tea and coffee with also be provided mid afternoon.

Registration fee
Your £10 registration fee is non-refundable.
Cancellations
Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend this course as this course is heavily subsidised as it is a funded programme. Our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up.
