What is the event?

Eligibility This is a two day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex. This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, West Sussex County Council and West Sussex CCGs.

What is Youth MHFA? Youth MHFA offers an internationally recognised course designed especially for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 to 18 years. Participants learn how to provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young persons mental and emotional well-being and to support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

What will I learn on a Youth MHFA course? The aims of Youth MHFA are to enable participants to: Gain a more in-depth understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experience

How will I learn? The Youth MHFA consists of two full days. You’ll receive a Youth MHFA manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and a certificate from MHFA England.

Getting to the Venue By Car Follow the brown signs to the Regis Centre. We are between Belmont Street and the Esplanade, There is a large car park next door. The parking charges are £3.20 for 4 hours and £7 for all day. You may find some free off-street parking in the roads nearby, within a 10 minute walk. FOR SAT NAV THE POST CODE IS PO21 1BL.

By Bus Take a bus to Bognor Regis High Street. Walk east towards the main shopping parade (London Road) and turn right through the arcade. We are located at the end of the arcade (5 minutes walk). By Train Take a train to Bognor Regis station. Leave the station by the main exit through the booking hall. Turn left to the main shopping precinct (London Road). Cross into the arcade. We are located at the end (10 minutes walk).

Timings and breaks

The course runs from 9.30 - 5pm both days: Wed 13th Dec 2017 Thurs 14th Dec 2017

Refreshments Tea and coffee will be provided during break times both mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

Registration fee Your £30 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable fee.

Cancellations Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.
