Hearts and Minds Valentine's Family Day

What is the event?

A family day for physically disabled children, special educational needs and disabilities, their siblings, parents and carers, available to children of all ages. Join us for some forest school, farm fun and crafts at our Hearts and Minds Family Day, set at Applefield, a beautiful, intimate and private smallholding in Sidlesham, near Selsey.

There will be lots of Valentines themed natural crafts to keep us entertained throughout the morning and these can be adapted to suit the individual abilities of the children, from heart shaped clay valentines hanging decorations, wooden love inspired key rings, plus lots more, all to take home to keep or give as presents for your loved ones.

We will also spend some exploring the farm, meeting and greeting the animals, relaxing in the hammock, playing on the swing or bug hunting.

Enjoy some hot chocolate and toast some marshmallows around the camp fire whilst chatting to new friends and enjoying our picnics (bring your own) before an afternoon of Valentines crafts with Lizzie.

Lizzie's craft club will be held in the communal greenhouse. There are lots of Valentines themed craft items to make, you can paint and decorate a tealight holder and other "hearty" themed craft items to take home and remember your Hearts and Minds Family Day at Applefield. A drink and biscuit will also be provided during craft club. Places at Lizzie's craft club for special needs children and their siblings are funded by Wellspring West Sussex, reducing the overall cost of the day of activities at Applefield.

£18.00 per child, (siblings under 2 come free) Parents/carers do not pay for a ticket.

Parking will be available on the drive or front of house, where there will be space for wheelchair lifts etc.

The site is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair friendly toilet and changing area.

If you are staying all day, please bring a picnic with you, we will be using the greenhouse to keep us warm from the elements and activities will be dependent on the weather and adapted to suit the climate at the time and can use this area for picnics too.
