The Southwater Infant Academy
Service
The Southwater Infant Academy has 282 pupils on roll between the ages 4-7 years across 10 classes in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The academy is located in the village of Southwater, near Horsham in West Sussex. The academy is the main feeder to The Southwater Junior Academy.
What we do:
- Early Years Education. The majority of pupils at the academy live in the Southwater area although the academy does attract some children from wards within Horsham.
- The village is mostly comprised of private housing with some social housing. The academy has a small percentage (15.9%) of children in minority ethnic groups. Stability is high (96.8%).
- 10.6% of children are recorded on the Special Educational Needs register. All of these children are in receipt of a range of interventions.
- We converted to an academy in July 2011. The decision to convert largely rested upon the desire to maintain and improve provision in a climate of budget cuts and reduction in local authority services.
- We are fortunate to have supportive parents, happy children and an excellent team of staff who work tirelessly to ensure children learn effectively in a safe and happy environment.
