Sidlesham Primary School

Service

Every child that attends our school has the right to enjoy and achieve to the best of their ability, to be kept safe, to be healthy and make a positive contribution, and gain an understanding of how to achieve economic well-being and prepare for adulthood

What we do:

  • We are committed to assessment and early identification of any Special Educational Need. Class teachers consult with parents and the SENCO in order to decide whether additional or different provision is needed.
  • We provide appropriate provision to all pupils with a special educational need. This may be within the class, through small group work or 1:1 with a specialist teaching assistant.
  • A child’s targets will be set out on an IEP (Individual Education Plan) IPP (Individual Provision Plan) or IBP (Individual Behaviour Plan). The individual plans will include support that is additional to or different from the usual school curriculum.
  • Parents will be kept regularly informed of their child’s progress by agreeing and sharing their child’s provision map and individual targets with the SENCO, class teacher and special educational needs teaching assistant.
  • We will liaise with and take guidance from a variety of external support services such as Speesch and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Educational Pshychologist and the Social Communication Team.
