Extra Help to Find Childcare

Service

All childcare should make reasonable adjustments to include children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). If your child has additional needs, choosing childcare that is right for you and your child can sometimes be challenging. However, the Family Information Service is here to help support you with your search for childcare. Visit our website using the link in the Contact Details section on the right for more information, or phone us and ask to speak to the Specialist Team.

What we do:

  • We can undertake wider geographical searches, explore alternative childcare types or a mix of provisions, contact childcare settings on your behalf and access support from our colleagues. We remain impartial at all times.
  • The childcare lists contain information about the training and experience a childcare setting has of caring for children with SEND.
  • We can help you access Early Years Funded Entitlement funding or other sources of assistance to pay for childcare, and advise of other support available for you and your child.
  • The Ordinarily Available Inclusive Practice guide highlights the expectations and strategies that can ‘ordinarily’ be provided for a child in a mainstream setting: https://schools.local-offer.org/send-toolkit/ordinarily-available-inclusive-practice/
