The Laurels Primary School
Service
At The Laurels Primary School we believe in providing a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment, where children can become confident learners, achieving to the best of their ability. We promote high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring everyone is respected and recognised for their strengths and differences. We value all members of the school community and the contributions they make to the success of the school.
What we do:
- We meet the learning needs of all pupils by providing quality first teaching, through a broad, balanced curriculum. Children and parents are at the heart of the process of identifying special needs and the SENDCo works with a range of outside agencies.
- The school has the following special facilities: Wheelchair access; Disabled toilets with hand rails; Ramps to outside doors to allow for wheelchair access; Individual adaptations e.g. chair supports and individual work stations.
- We have specially trained teaching assistants to help support children with speech and language difficulties, English and maths skills, and emotional needs. In addition we engage play therapists and occupational therapists from external agencies.
- Continued professional development means that teaching practice is up-to-date and driven by the latest research. We conduct in-house training and invite guests in to support with specialist areas, such as Lego Therapy and Attachment Awareness.
- We also run a wide range of clubs which provide opportunities for enrichment experiences. The Laurels is a warm and happy place for young people to begin their learning journey!
