Pound Hill Junior School
Service
Pound Hill Junior School is a maintained West Sussex Community School, currently with 358 pupils. The school is situated in the Southeast of Crawley. We aim to understand the differences in all pupils and support them to access the school’s broad curriculum which successfully prepares them for their future stages of life.
What we do:
- We deliver quality first teaching, where pupils’ learning needs are planned for by class teachers and high expectations enable children to succeed.
- We believe that the children should be encouraged to share these expectations and drive their own learning forward.
- We recognise that the goals for each child are the same but the help that individual children need in progressing towards them will be different.
- Where concerns have been identified, a programme of targeted support and classroom strategies are put into place to address those needs to enable children to access the curriculum within the classroom.
- All staff are regularly trained to support children with additional needs. The Inclusion Manager liaises with appropriate professionals and the school operates an open-door policy for parents to visit and discuss any additional needs their child may have.
Our users say:
"The achievement of children is good. Children with disabilities and special educational needs are well supported and make good progress. Those who speak English as an additional language reach standards that are above average."
