Early Help

Service

The sooner a family receives the right support, the sooner they can improve their situation and prevent the need for prolonged support. Support starts with universal services, such as the school, the health service and the police. Families needing additional support will receive the next level. A 'whole family' approach ensures that children's needs and welfare are being met and maintained as well as those of the family.

What we do:

  • This is done by working with the family, local communities and others already supporting them.
  • Early help also includes parents-to-be and very young children where: their needs are not being met by routine or 'universal' services and they do not meet thresholds for statutory interventions.
  • One-to-one work with children is undertaken using an approach where children are helped to explore what their own experiences and views are about themselves within their family.
  • Support may be given on a one-to-one, professional-led or peer-to-peer group basis. The service is flexible to meet the needs of families and we shape our services through our Family Hubs.

Our users say:

“I would like to say a massive thank you to Early Help. There is no way I would have moved forward with my life without the help you have provided. I feel I have a future now to look forward to." - Parent supported by her Family Support Keyworker
