Mary Hare School is a residential school for all deaf children and young people, aged 5 to 19 years of age. We teach deaf children through an auditory oral approach, which means that the young people learn through listening, speaking and writing English.

What we do:

  • Primary, Secondary and 6th Form education
  • We focus on communication and language skills so that pupils can access the full curriculum
  • Pupils enjoy a large peer group of deaf pupils
  • Small classes taught by Teachers of the Deaf who are also subject specialists
  • Specialist support includes speech and language therapists, audiology unit, acoustically treated classrooms, technology to assist learning
