Woods for Learning’s ethos is summed up by its motto of, ‘Take life back to nature: explore, discover, play, learn – live!’ The founder of Woods for Learning, Gary Marlow, has brought the Forest School concept, which originated in Scandinavia in the 1950s, to Horsham and the surrounding area. Research has shown that taking part in a Forest School brings many benefits to both children and adults alike. Spending time in the natural environment has been shown to improve emotional wellbeing.
What we do:
- Parties: Woods for Learning birthday parties are also proving very popular. Activities vary from session to session and include: learning about nature, den building, woodland crafts, animal tracking, team work challenges, fire-lighting, and more
- Families: There is the regular family events each month, “Really well organised. Great range of activities for everyone which kept children’s interest. Will definitely come to future events. The Murphy family”
- Staff: Gary Marlow who leads has over 10 years of working with children that have a range of disabilities, and trains others to be more inclusive in their practice
- Service: We thrive on providing inclusive quality programme, we always find ways of including everyone whatever their disability - We have a proven track record
