The Orchards Junior School is a large mainstream school catering for the needs of pupils aged 7-11. The school has several distinctive features, although overwhelmingly, visitors have commented on its warmth of welcome and friendliness.We pride ourself upon our commitment to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential by staff who understand them as individuals.

What we do:

The school has exceptional strengths in sport,music/drama productions and commitment to the school ethos. We also have a specialist unit for pupils with an Education Health Care Plan/Statement of Educational Needs and Speech & Language difficulties.
Every activity or strategic objective is linked to our main aim 'To create a positive learning environment where everyone is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential.'
Learning opportunities at the school are planned to generate interest, encourage and engage children . A range of strategies are used to enable all children to learn effectively with resources which reduce barriers to learning.
The school has clear and explicit procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils. There are well established and understood systems to deal with unacceptable behaviour, bullying, health & safety and discrimination.
One of the major strengths of the school is our commitment to providing a wide range of extra curricular activities. We run in excess of 40 clubs for the children after school and to support this we have an extensive programme of educational visits .
