Southbourne Junior School
Service
At Southbourne Junior School we are passionate about creating an inclusive, innovative, engaging curriculum for our pupils, regardless of need or ability. We strive to support all children to enable them to take PRIDE (perseverance, respect, independence, determination and enthusiasm) in their learning.
What we do:
- Quality first teaching is vital; however for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve their targets.
- When additional needs are identified we put extra provision in place in the form of one-to-one or small group programmes to ensure all children make the best possible progress.
- We work closely with parents to keep them informed of their child's needs and progress and offer advice to parents to support their children at home.
- All staff, including our team of Teaching Assistants, are regularly trained to identify and support children with additional needs.
- The SENCO liaises with appropriate professionals and the school operates an “open door” policy for parents to visit and discuss any additional needs their child may have.
