Petworth Community Garden CIC

Service

PCG offers sensory and accessible organic gardening activities teaching 'Growing Your Own,' Permaculture and Gardening for Wildlife, along with opportunities to learn to cook healthy meals from the harvest with our 'Plot to Plate project. We work as a mixed community group and are accessible to all needs and abilities; participants can work at their own pace with accessible tools on raised beds and enjoy being part of an integrated group, sharing tea, cakes, and healthy lunch from the harvest.

What we do:

  • Accessible organic, sensory and wildlife gardening activities are available year round in our beautiful wheelchair accessible garden; from preparing the ground to harvesting the crops, learning to cook, making bug homes, scarecrows and birdfeeders.
  • Our service is available on Tuesdays from 10am-2pm. We do not charge but ask for donations towards lunch. We are presently awaiting funding for our Thursday group to restart, please enquire to visit, or be added to our waiting list for this day.
  • We run a mixed community group for all ages and abilities. We have wheelchair accessible beds, paths, toilet and activity shed, tools and materials to suit all needs. Activities can be tailored to individuals abilities and wishes.
  • We are trained by Thrive, to offer Social and Therapeutic Horticulture to; children with special needs, adults with learning disabilities, people with sightloss or dementia. We are also trained by RHS to run school gardens and eco clubs.
  • We teach permaculture, organic gardening, wildlife and eco activities, offering informal 'learning by doing,' and children's holiday activities on Tuesdays. More specific tailored training programmes can be available if requested on Thursdays.

Our users say:

'With someone like my son who didn't have friends, your project is just a life line.' Mrs Tobbitt October 2014.
