The Girl with the Curly Hair Project
Service
The UK’s only social enterprise dedicated to supporting women (and the boys!) with Asperger’s Syndrome and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their neurotypical loved ones by offering strategy workshops locally in West Sussex. Written by the CHP’s founder Alis Rowe.
As a social enterprise, there are four key things the CHP strives to achieve through its work.
What we do:
- Most profit is put back into the curly hair project in order to develop: educational material including books, blog articles and podcasts; training, workshops, seminars and talks; school visits; networking; job opportunities; and our social media sites.
- If you are a believer and supporter of the curly hair project then you are also a believer and supporter of me, Alis Rowe, as a person. The curly hair project is based on my own personal morals and ethics.
- The curly hair project is for people. Through the CHP, we want to offer a flexible service that provides the user with generic material which can be used specifically for your unique family situation. We are also happy to help anyone through 1:1 support.
- Every time we provide a service or a product, there is an impact on somebody. We hope that, with time, this will improve their mental health and make them happier.
- We work with local and small businesses as much as possible. We also strive to utilise the skills of people on the autistic spectrum or people who are related to somebody on the autistic spectrum.
